A money that you can use for any other purpose in your life rather than paying it for a filthy rich manufacturer or a heartless billionaire retailer.

Should I Buy Refurbished Laptop? – We All Love savings, Don’t we?

Refurbished products do not necessarily mean used, it could be a return, someone who bought something then decided later it’s not what they want, or a product that has a little scratch you hardly can see with your naked eye, in this situation the minute the the box is opened Reputable & trustful retailors won’t sell such merchandise as new, instead it’ll be sold as…

  • Returned merchandise
  • Refurbished merchandise
  • Reconditioned
  • Remanufactured
  • Used merchandise
  • Second hand merchandise
  • Floor model,  and the list goes on

It doesn’t matter What name they give this merchandise, what matters here is the fact that the saving will be astronomical to your wallet, you can even turn around and resell such merchandise for a huge profits if so you wish.

Let’s again ask – Should I Buy Refurbished Laptop?

I myself never bought a new item since 1996 when I purchased my first huge 62 inch widescreen TV from PC Richard & Son, “a New York based electronic retailor” that cost $3200 as a floor model for $1200 those days and no one around me ever knew that because it looks brand new

Of course I keep this as a secret for my ego (LOL). You don’t want every one to know every secret you have.

Imagine nowadays getting a $6000  smart 3d big screen TV $1700, and a $900 Asus laptop for $199. this is exactly what I bought for the new year 2016, In another way buying a refurbished laptops and other electronics  allows you to get a better specification for the same price, Or in other words, you can get a better laptop than you would for the same price when buying new. But there are some things of which you should be aware.  it is part of the reason behind why I’m creating this website today.

Deals are different from one place to another, just shop smartly and patiently you’ll eventually get the super deal.

What Do You Need To know?

1. Do not buy from individuals –

Buying from an individual deprives you from knowing much of the truth about the item, let alone sending it back for refund or exchange if you later find out the item is worthless and a complete rip off.

2. Write down what you’re looking for in a laptop or computer –

The more features a computer has the better the machine, this also can shed the light on how much of a deal you’re having during a purchase.  For example,  If you are paying a $199 for a laptop with some features and later on find out that you could’ve gotten a laptop with double the features and memory or speed for the same price, you’ll for sure be biting your nails.

So, always do your homework, write down the specifications and your favorite computer model, brand, manufactures if you have any favoritism,  and compare it against the best prices out there.

3. Buy from a large trustful, Reputable Source

Usually Larger firms are more responsible,  weary of their business practices and reputation, they will gladly return, swap, exchange and or refund the merchandise for you if you’re not happy with the purchase for one reason or another.

4. Make sure what’s in the box is what you agreed to buy

Make sure this thing works, and in the condition you expected. Be especially peculiar in checking that no one else’s user details are on your new laptop. It is much easier to address problems if you return your laptop immediately.

Make sure to safe keep all the documentation that comes with your laptop. What happens if you have to reinstall any software that comes with your laptop? You should have the installation codes for any pre-installed software, and if you don’t you should find out why before you get too comfortable with your new computer.

5. Warranty

Be sure there is a warranty included. Most refurbished electronics come with a warranty, which is usually included, or available at a reasonable additional cost. Included warrantees are usually good for 90 days and covers Your PC’s hardware, not software or accidental damage.

Extended Warranty

It’s NOT a bad idea to look for extended warranty options, A longer warranty may be of interest to you, depending on the product, price and intended use of the product. Most PC companies issue their own refurbished merchandise’s warrantees.

6. Check Return Policies

As I mentioned previously,  most reputable retailors & manufacturers will offer some kind of return policy to ensure customer’s satisfaction and feel comfortable enough to purchase their refurbished products.
Return policies are usually listed with the product details, or in your online purchase process, and varies from one company to another, usually 30 to 90 days.

7. Make sure to check the refurbish Reason

Most refurbished electronics won’t have a detailed history of it’s past usage. The are many ways to educate yourself as to the possible reasons why this product is now listed as Refurbished.
Refurbished items are frequently sold at discounted prices because they are one of the following:

Custom Returns – An item returned to the retailor/manufacturer with no issues with the product itself by the consumer after a manufacturer trial period.

Returned product due to shipping damage – Many are the times when we received merchandises damaged through shipping. I used to have a gift shop before and this was happening at weekly basis.

Floor model/ Demo Refurbs – This is an item that was opened by a retailor for demonstration purposes, and cannot be sold as new now.

An Open Box product – This is an item that was returned by a consumer who simply decided this is not for me.

flawed items- This is an item that has some or very little engineering error- or so called “factory defective”. They function very well anyways to an un-noticeable levels.

Overstocked items – An item/items which has been returned by retailors to make necessary room for “new in market products”.

This includes any Other damaged items that has been returned, repaired and tested to be perfect as new to use.

Don’t be surprised to learn that Refurbished items are tested more robustly than brand new items. Therefore,  no matter the reason the product is sold as refurbished, the quality of such product has been harshly tested to have the same, if not better, features and functionality than that of a new one.

8. My Best Advice is to Buy Straight From the Manufacturer or From an Authorized Dealer.

I can’t emphasize this any stronger,  buy your refurbished electronics from a “reputable authorized dealer” or straight from the manufacturer. If not it’s important your product comes from a reputable dealer who will offer similar if not better warranty and return policies. Buying safely is the name of the game here.

Buying from a manufacturer or A reputable dealer, empowers you with the peace of mind you need when spending your hard earned dollar knowing the above information are already taken care of and that your product will be as good as new!

Should I buy refurbished laptop?  My Final thoughts

No doubt in my mind you can get a bargain buying refurbished Products. Personally I’d always want to buy from a reputable, large company from whom I know I could get some support and a listening ear if something went wrong.  If I was in the market for a nice Dell would definitely buy refurbished from Dell, for instance. It’s a great way to get a great bargain.

But make sure you know the risks when buying unknown sources, and follow my advice outlined above. There is always a risk when purchasing anything and in particular  PCs and laptops are very complex machines to tackle.

Should I buy Refurbished Laptops? absolutely yes, take your time, do your homework, aim at reputable source and get the sweet deal.  GOOD LUCK.
